This year the spotlight is on the unsung heroes that live in most British kitchens – Fridges, freezers, microwaves; they can all help us to reduce food waste in our homes – helping to save the planet and saving you money too! And there’s a chance to win a brand-new Hisense Fridge-Freezer too.

Sarah Clayton, Head of Citizen Behaviour Change at WRAP, said:

Our first Food Waste Action Week was an incredible success with almost half of people who came across messaging changing their behaviour as a result – so we’re confident we have a winning formula. But year two has new pressures.

In 2022 we must hit home harder because our data shows that with the easing of lockdown household food waste began to rise again as people fell back into old habits. It’s imperative that we drive home the message that wasting food feeds climate change, and business support and trade body involvement is crucial in channelling that message widescale.

We have another EcoShop now up and running in Corpus Christi School. They had an amazing first day with over 30 customers through the door, they are also going to start welcoming the local community not just parents and staff.
They are open every Tuesday 11.15am – 12.45 pm and trade from the school sports hall. Photos to follow shortly!

Food Waste Action Week is coming up very soon and it is an ideal opportunity to showcase the importance of Eco Shops and how they are helping reduce perfectly good food going to landfill.
