It is not a move we wanted to make, nor is it a move we envisioned making to be quite honest, but certainly the difficulties of the past few years have made it impossible to carry on running the Green Hub. Due to the overall costs of funding and renting the Hub, as well as the lack of continued funding for it, compounded by a lack of footfall, we are having to close the Green Hub, once Middlesbrough Cycle Centre, permanently on Wednesday 29th May 2024.
The Eco Shop will be open two final times: On Wednesday 15th May, with its final day on Wednesday 22nd May, from 11am to 1pm on both days. Shopmobility will be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 3pm. The final day for that will be Wednesday 29th May, and will close at 2pm. We will be looking at donating the mobility scooters to those who need them the most, specifically our regular customers.
We would like to thank our regular customers and everyone who has visited or used us over the decades that Middlesbrough Cycle Centre has been open. It has been a pleasure for Middlesbrough Cycle Centre/The Green Hub to serve you for such a long time, and to have been a staple of the town centre but, sadly, like many others, the time has come to say goodbye. The main electrical and plumbing works are getting completed next week and the following Monday, this should mean power to the chiller and handwash sinks. They are hoping to accept the first ambient deliveries on the week commencing the 17th and all being well the chiller will get turned on, on the 20th/21st.
If all goes to plan, chilled and produce deliveries on the 24th of April and self-sufficient the next day! The following week they want to try and roll out the separate frozen model but that will need to be confirmed. The plan is by the end of April they will start onboarding new groups and the ECO shops are a priority – with the caveat they have a chiller.

If anyone wants some large bags of potatoes, you can call at Caldicotes School today and collect some from Angela Barry. They have been donated from SK Chilled Food and are in bags of about 10 kilos. This looks like it could be a regular supply.
Thanks, Lisa.
